Dairy-Free Gluten-Free Sausage Gravy

gluten-free dairy-free sausage gravy
Here is my dairy-free gluten-free sausage gravy recipe! It, like a lot of my other recipes, is not a traditional sausage gravy. Try not to be put off by the number of ingredients, or the fact its gluten and dairy-free! It has a great down-home flavor, despite it having some hippy-dippy ingredients. This gravy is super-rich and perfect on chicken fried steak, biscuits, scrambled eggs, even cardboard (don't actually eat cardboard). This only takes about 25 minutes to make, so it is easy to add quick down-home flavor to anything you want.

Ingredients
  • 6 breakfast sausage links (this works great with chicken, pork, or turkey breakfast sausage [plain, NOT maple flavored])
  • 5 tbsp vegan butter (or margarine)
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 2 1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup certified gluten free oat flour (if you're sensitive to oats sorghum flour is a good substitute)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
  1. For this recipe, you will need a medium saucepan.
  2. Cut breakfast sausage links up into small chunks, add to saucepan with the vegan butter, coriander, and thyme.
  3. Turn heat on medium-low, cook about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
  4. Add your flour to the pan and cook about 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour in your soy milk and chicken broth and stir well.
  6. Add the rest of your ingredients and bring gravy up to a simmer. After it simmers cook about 5 minutes stirring often.
  7. Enjoy!
