Garlic and Herb Pulled Pork

This garlic and herb pulled pork is super moist and meaty with a rich but not overbearing garlic and herb flavor! It also happens to be gluten, dairy, and soy-free! This recipe is compatible with most diets, except vegetarian and low-fat diets. This recipe is perfect for when you’re tired of barbecue sauce drenched pulled pork, or if you love pork but not barbecue sauce! Perfect on its own or in a sandwich. You could even use this for tacos! Looking for a gluten-free flour tortilla recipe? Try my teff tortillas! https://bit.ly/30ECVJN

The nice thing about this recipe is that even though it’s plenty flavorful on its own, its also great with almost any sauce! Put it on a bun and top it with ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce. I like it both on it’s own, or with a little of my smoky cherry barbecue sauce (recipe coming soon).

This has a lot of ingredients but its a snap to make. You just season and brown the meat and add the other ingredients to a blender, then put it all in a crockpot! This is a great recipe for meal prepping.

This recipe calls for both scallions and chives. Chives and scallions are different, I swear. For example, only the leaves of chives are eaten while you can use all of a scallion. They’re even different species of plants. In that kind of thing interests you, you can read more about the differences here: https://bit.ly/30H32Qu

You end up with extra liquid at the end of the cooking this garlic and herb pulled pork. And, while you can throw it away, I like to freeze it and add it to homemade chicken soup! It tastes awesome and adds a ton of flavor to soups, stews, and gravies, so why not save it?

  1. Take the salt, pepper, brown sugar, and garlic powder and mix in a bowl.
  2. Turn a skillet on high heat with a 1/2 tbsp of oil. Pat the meat dry and rub with the seasoning you just mixed. Place in the pan. and brown on all sides. Don't crowd it! You may need to brown in two steps depending on the size of your pan.
  3. Place the meat in your crockpot and deglaze the pan with a 1/2 cup of chicken broth, scraping the bottom to get any brown bits, add this to the crockpot too.
  4. Take all of the rest of the ingredients and place in a blender or food processor and blend thoroughly.
  5. Add the garlic and herb 'smoothie' to the crockpot.
  6. Turn the crockpot on high for about an hour, then turn it down to low.
  7. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or until the pork is falling apart tender.
  8. Remove the pork from the crockpot and pull it apart using two forks, or let it cool and use your hands.
  9. Take about 2/3 of a cup of liquid and fat from the crockpot and add it to the pork and mix. Discard the rest of the liquid. Or, freeze it and add it to a soup, stew, or gravy at a later date!
  10. Enjoy!
